Gerald (Jerry)'s Story
Life
After graduating from Marshall, I attended L.A. City College then went on to U.C.L.A. and received a B.S. Degree in Business. I then did my military service as an Officer and was sent to Germany. I decided to stay in Germany and found a job in Frankfurt with Remington Rand Office Equipment. After 2 years I moved to Karlsruhe to work for a software company with a contract with the US Army. Then two years later I moved to Brussels to work for ITT where I stayed for seven years becoming a Director in their European Headquarters (ITT had over 200,000 Employees in Europe). After my third year there, ITT sent me to I.N.S.E.A.D. (one of Europe's most renown Business Schools) located in Fontainbleau, France for their Advanced Management course which is equivalent to an American Masters Degree.
In 1977, I quit ITT to start my own business, MARLEX International with three companies; one in Belgium, one in Germany and one in Luxembourg. I am one of those very lucky people whose work is not only very interesting and creative, but also lets me meet some very interesting people - We work ...Expand for more
with nearly 1500 companies mostly in Europe at the senior management level. We have also been involved with some entertainment personalities such as Michael Jackson (1990 - 1996 when he was at the top of his career, before all his troubles started) and also Harry Belafonte through his work with UNESCO as we developed some games and other products for UNESCO. In Sept. 2001, they used our home to make a film with a well known French actor Philippe Noiret (he has made over 130 films during his career of over 40 years). The film was presented at the Venice Film Festival in May 2002; my wife and I even have a walk-on role in the film. The film played in the cinemas in France, Belgium and other European countries and has been shown on TV numerous times.
As you can see, I am passionate about my work and life in general and even though I am now 68 years old like all of us from the Class of 57, I have no intention of retiring but will continue to work as long as I'm physically able. To see what we do, the name of our company is MARLEX International and we have a web site of over 50 pages.
